Our History Frank Godden trained as a butcher with the Co-Operative Society in the 1940’s in South East London and then he and his wife, Grace, bought a butcher’s shop in Hemel Hempstead High Street and lived above it with their children, Clive, Maurice and Pamela.
With all the family involved, the business grew over the decades and now operates from a substantial, purpose-built facility in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, more than 60 years after Frank Godden first began working in the trade.
OUR TEAM / JOIN OUR TEAM The Godden family have successfully run their family business in the local area for 60 years and are proud of their team and their shared aim in delivering honestly priced, premium quality British produce to their discerning customers.

THE FARM Every year we rear lambs on our own farm in the Chilterns. Typically these are available to our customers in October and November
We can also supply, on a seasonal basis, locally sourced wild venison, local game and barn-reared turkeys and understand that many of our customers are keen to know the provenance of their meat and poultry. We are happy to share our knowledge of the of the most appropriate cut or recipe and have a wealth of information on how to get the best out of your premium quality produce should you need it.
THE SHOP The trade and the public alike are welcome to collect orders from our shop.
We offer a wide variety of British products including the finest hand-made sausages and burgers, local lamb and game on a seasonal basis, all kinds of poultry and a broad selection of roasting joints and hand cut steaks.
